When Care Lasts a Lifetime,

the Foundation Must Last Longer

Foundations for the Future is a $20 million capital campaign to expand Safehaven’s capacity, modernize our infrastructure, and ensure our promise of lifelong brain injury care becomes permanent for generations to come.

The Need for Expansion A Proven Model Worth Protecting

Brain injury is among the most complex and costly conditions to manage long-term. For many families, the responsibility lasts a lifetime, and few places are equipped to provide the necessary specialized care.

Safehaven was built for this reality.  We have delivered 27 years with zero pressure injuries and an exceptional standard of care

. However, in 2024, Safehaven reached full physical capacity, forcing us to turn away families simply because no suites were available. This campaign is the bridge between what works today and what must exist tomorrow.

What Foundations for the Future Builds

This expansion will increase our capacity from 12 to 24 private suites and unlock critical advancements in how we deliver care:

  • Resident Quality of Life

This expansion builds a home, not an institution. It will expand communal spaces, create dedicated therapeutic environments, and foster autonomy, purpose, and belonging over years of residence.

  • Quality of Care

Our new facility is purpose-built to protect our documented clinical excellence, enabling stronger staff-to-resident ratios, better interdisciplinary communication, and reduced preventable hospitalizations.

  • Education & Workforce

Safehaven will become a regional training hub, expanding clinical rotations for nursing students, offering accredited continuing education, and hosting ethics-centered training.

  • Technology & Infrastructure

We will implement fully integrated electronic health records, smarter operational systems, and enhanced safety monitoring to protect outcomes as care becomes more complex.

  • Economic Impact

When care lasts for years, inefficiency is expensive. This new facility will stabilize long-term care costs, protect families from financial crisis, and generate skilled healthcare employment in our region.
