The Brain Injury Awareness Adventure Series

Our mission

Through heartwarming and engaging stories, this series introduces children to brain injury awareness in a fun, relatable, and age-appropriate way. Each book follows memorable characters as they navigate challenges, celebrate successes, and learn valuable lessons about courage, perseverance, friendship, and hope.

Created by the Jimmy Simpson Foundation and written by Ian Russell, these inspiring stories help young readers better understand brain injuries and the resilience of those who live with them. Through adventure, compassion, and positive life lessons, children will discover the importance of empathy, inclusion, and the incredible strength it takes to overcome life's unexpected challenges.

Lola

After a soccer accident leaves her struggling with reading, schoolwork, and sensitivity to light, Lola learns she has a concussion and discovers that with patience, support, and perseverance, setbacks don't have to define how far she can go.

Mojo

After an accident leaves lifeguard Mojo feeling dizzy, forgetful, and unsure of himself, he learns he has a concussion and begins a journey of healing that teaches him courage, perseverance, and the strength it takes to get his mojo back.

Built for Real Kids, Real Questions

The Brain Injury Awareness Adventure Series™ is written for children, families, educators, and caregivers looking for an approachable way to talk about brain injury and concussion. Whether a child is navigating their own recovery, supporting a sibling or friend, or simply learning empathy for those who think, move, or feel differently, each story offers age-appropriate language and relatable characters that make a hard topic easier to understand — and easier to talk about together.
