About Us
Our Mission
The Jimmy Simpson Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to providing compassionate care for individuals living with brain injuries. Through our Safehaven residential program, Carol’s Light Support Group, and brain injury education initiatives, we empower families and transform lives. Our faith-based programs honor the dignity of every individual and offer peace of mind to families navigating complex medical needs.
Our Story : A legacy of compassion and care
Our foundation began with a crisis—and a calling. In 1996, after Jimmy Simpson suffered an anoxic brain injury following a fall, his wife Carol Simpson discovered a heartbreaking gap in long-term care options for brain injured individuals. Determined to help others facing the same struggle, she founded The Jimmy Simpson Foundation.
In 1998, we launched Safehaven, a 24-hour residential care program designed for individuals with severe brain injuries. In 2007, we introduced Carol’s Light, formerly known as the Northwest Georgia TBI support group offering peer connection and caregiver resources. Today, we continue to grow through our Foundations for the Future Capital Campaign, which aims to expand our bed capacity and extend our reach across the Southeast.
